The Simplest Way To Build Your FSBO Business
Coming from contribution means that you provide value, tips, and tools that support the seller’s desire to sell the home on his own. Empower the seller and you actually build your own credibility and likeability as well as the likelihood of getting the listing.

      Hi, Hoss.
Great piece. Can't agree more on the need to have a strategy to address the FSBO market. It's a great and growing opportunity. If you agree, one more thing is to ensure Realtors are engaged and are continuously visible and networking on sites and communities where FSBO consumers post listings and gather.
One such site is www.listedby.com. (Disclaimer: it's our site) It's the and only transparent live auction, social network and real estate marketplace. It's a highly Realtor friendly site where consumers can also post listings and accept bids right there and then. A completely new concept and does not charge any fees whatsoever.
Once on the site, agents (and service providers) can network and position themselves as local experts, which is another surefire way to connect with active FSBOs.
Please check it out. Keen to get your thoughts.  less

What this means for the real estate industry is that you could very soon be busier than you have been in a very long time.
This may be a great problem to have, but it is a problem nonetheless.
That’s why I have written a new series on Hiring Superstar Talent to help you leverage and grow your business.
The first article in the series will teach you very simply, how to recognize the right time to hire and what you should do before you decide to make your first (or next) hire.  less

David Janis Great article! I'm in the process of hiring my first assistant and yes it is scary. My only limit to production right now is time and my customer service is starting to suffer.

However, I will not be hiring an assistant as my wife retires next month! I think Warren is correct because the market is flooded with inventory and all we hear in BoA has yet to fling its holdings. Even rumors through real estate sources that banks may be considering raising interest rates. IN OTHER WORDS, BUY NOW!

We are entering a contract - agreement - partnership with that consumer... what guarantee do we get that the consumer will perform as needed? A blanket promise that you'll allow them to cancel the agreement anytime diminishes the value of the agreement--and may be above your authority as a licensee working for a brokerage firm. Why bother with the agreement? Let's work on a handshake! (I'm not serious, by the way.)
In case it's not obvious, I can very successfully sell against licensees who advertise "you can cancel at any time." Most of those licensees are not taking the time to understand their prospective clients--they are looking for the fast closing. "Just sign the agreement--you can cancel at any time." I've been asked... and said "I don't have that guarantee because you aren't going to want to cancel."

However, I can't agree with guaranteeing that a property will be sold in 29 days (or any number of days), even if there is a disclaimer regarding not overpricing the listing.
