Kathleen Allardyce commented on Kathleen Allardyce's blog entry: Hi El - I like your idea. The only thing I wonder about is having many sites with the same password. Even if it's a very secure password, if anyone ever broke it, they'd have access to more than one site.

Kathleen Allardyce commented on Kathleen Allardyce's blog entry: Aaron - glad you found your answer, I doubt people will be hacking your accounts any time soon. Sam - you and me both. One time I made the mistake of printing that spreadsheet - turns out it's 8 pages long.

Get past the idea that the criminal is an individual sitting at their computer trying to get into your site or a group of sites that you belong to. It makes a great commercial, but it would take them far too long and they would consider it a waste of time.
Now picture a computer program randomly hitting a business server with sequences of passwords until they get a hit and the door unlocks. That computer program isn't then going to try to figure out who you are and get into all of *your* accounts. It's going to go onto the next targetted site and/or continue the random sequence routine until it gets another hit.
So, what type of site is going to get targetted? Cracker Jack Agent? Probably not. More likely to be a commerce site of some sort: eBay, any bank, Pay Pal... or a large shopping site where, chances are, the little creatons will gain access to credit card information.
